Pursue That Dream No Matter What

Posted: September 25, 2013 in Uncategorized

When I was a teen, I used to get fascinated by stories of winning lotto. I would be seated somewhere under a tree with a group of my age mates as would pose a question ‘if you were to win lotto what will you do”. I hated interruptions, all what I wanted was to take my thoughts wild and explore all what I dreamt accomplishing and attain. Little did it click to me, that it was a good mind exercise, a session of letting go of your thoughts with your desires uninterrupted. A naive way to dream, actually the best and appropriate way to dream.

Later on, in life after maturing in life, and knowing life’s complications, its ups and downs, lack of this and that I was engaged in another type of dreaming: realistic dreaming. I know now that it’s not a type of dreaming but an acceptance thinking that is tainted thoughts. Kids have a way with life, there are carefree and anything they believe is true. They know they have a caring and strong dad; their also know that mum is the best cook ever. Little do they know the reality and status of their parents or their life’s. So their dreams are pure and real dreaming.

Life has many challenges and milestones to achieve. Every day is a new day with new mountains to climb and new problems to solve. As we engage with life, reality sinks in, one understands that some stuffs are not easily available, but I would say, they are not impossible to acquire. Dreams are good as they make that which seems to be fantasy to be real without relying on reality to design ones dream.

Recently I got inspired by a story I read of a guy who failed his matric for a record four times until he passed and qualified for a place in campus to pursue his studies as a lawyer. All his life he dreamt of becoming a lawyer. He had been odd jobs to raise funds for tuition in no avail then he opted of studying on his own. Four times writing matric exams! That’s a dreamer right there. Miracles do happen; he passed his matric and then got a scholarship and he is now a hot shot lawyer pursuing his doctorate studies. While curious to know how he got the scholarship, I read more only to realize that he never did anything special. He just applied normally for the scholarships on a programme being and he filled forms and that’s how he qualified. Dreams don’t die.

Without dreams, life is one big zombie with no direction and bearing. For one to wake up refreshed every morning one needs to have a good reason to woke up to. Waking up to a day with no dreams is like having to wake up on a wasted and lost day. Amusing, as every human has the same time for each day and each night but some people can accomplish more than others. Yes other factors do influence ones accomplishment but a lack of pure like-a-child thoughts will not create naive dreams that are pure. Pure thoughts are naive and some may call them stupid or ambitious thoughts but there are the best thoughts as their take ones capabilities to higher heights.

Entrepreneurs and risks takers are dreamers first then thinkers afterwards. They grasp an opportunity and snap it with less calculations and timings that might hinder accomplishment. A skilled borrowed from the master hunters, wild cats, when hungry; nothing else contaminates their ‘get food now’ thoughts. They survey they zone, spots a target and bingo, they go for the killing. I admire that kind of instinct of going for the kill whenever an opportunity is spotted. It’s a pursuit of one dream to the fullest, attaining your goal is the killing and nothing else matters.

Dreams are noble
Dreams rejuvenates
Dreams motivates
Dreams encourages
Dreams bore meaning
Dreams inspires
Dreams hatches ideas
Dreams prophesy
Dreams ignites ones passion

As one dreams on, they are inspired to reach to higher heights despite life’s difficulties and challenges. One dreams that the future will be brighter, that one day, I will make it, one day I will achieve and accomplish. That one day, I will do that which I admired and intended to have done.

Yes, dream on but compliment with setting goals, acquiring enough tools and placing oneself on right area and time to reach that destination you intend to reach.

Dream on.
Pursue that dream, it may take time but surely it will come to pass!
